About the Provider

Before moving to the U.S., Katia Adams, MD, earned her medical degree and completed her residency in vascular surgery at Santa Casa School of Medicine in São Paulo, Brazil. She then spent 10 years practicing as a vascular surgeon in Brazil and served as an instructor for vascular surgery residents.

After relocating in 1996 to be closer to family, she completed a second residency in family medicine at the University of Cincinnati and has since spent more than two decades caring for patients of all ages.

Dr. Adams previously cared for patients at NGPG from 2011 to 2018 and also volunteered at Good Shepherd Clinic in Dawsonville during that time.

Originally from São Paulo, Dr. Adams now lives in northeast Georgia with her husband, Mauro Pires, a professional tennis coach. Outside of work, Dr. Adams enjoys photography, traveling, improving her tennis skills, and creating small, stuffed toys through amigurumi.

Dr. Adams was more than friendly, and professional. She took her time with me and made me feel very comfortable talking with her. I have anxiety seeing the doctor and she made me 100% comfortable. She also wrote me a follow-up email about all of my blood work the next day. She acted like she really cared. Fantastic doctor!
